Vietnam drew a blank on the final day of competition Tuesday at the World Junior Taekwondo Championships in Tijuana, Mexico, and finished the tournament with a bronze medal won by Doan Thi Huong Giang.
She lost 7-1 to Lim So Ra of South Korea, the eventual gold winner, in the 52kg semifinal and shared third place with Spain’s Laia Ramirez, who lost to Tanja Rastovic of Croatia in the other semifinal.
Giang had earlier beaten Audrey Vognin of Polynesia, Dominique Bloemberg of the Netherlands, and Blaviano Palge of the US.
On Tuesday two other Vietnamese fighters, Nguyen Thi Thu Trang in the women’s 46kg and To Minh Nhat in men’s 63kg, bowed out.
The 8th edition of the championships was held from March 6-to 9 with 696 fighters from 97 nations and territories taking part.
