Thoi Bao Kinh Te Sai Gon Online

The Saigon Institute of Technology (SaigonTech) will begin construction of a US$400 million hospital using advanced IT solutions in Vung Tau City in May.

The hospital will have around 500 beds and 22 departments which focus on cardiology, tumors, and mental illnesses, SaigonTech Chancellor Nguyen Van Sau told Thoi Bao Kinh Te Sai Gon Online (Saigon Economic Times Online) newspaper last Monday.

It will use electronic medical records (EMR) and hospital information systems (HIS) to manage patients’ medical histories, personal information, and appointments.

The facility will offer telemedicine and teleradiology services that enable consultation with foreign specialists via teleconferencing, and allow patients to make appointments with its doctors online.

The hospital is scheduled for completion in 2013.

Sau said plans to establish an advanced hospital whose departments and activities are connected through a central computer have been in the making since 2002.

SaigonTech will also build a $50 million high-tech clinic in Ho Chi Minh City’s Quang Trung Software City to link up with partner-hospitals abroad.

The HCMC-based institute also plans to build a number of clinics in the northern and central regions that will be linked with the Vung Tau-based hospital via telemedicine and teleradiology services.

Founded in 2001, SaigonTech mainly offers an Associate in Applied Science degree in computer science technology and business, marketing, and management.

It is currently expanding by developing IT solutions for healthcare, automation, and environmental management.
