Forest protection officers released Wednesday a batch of smuggled lizards back into the forest in the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong.
The reptiles were seized from a bus heading for Ho Chi Minh City.
Bus driver Le Hiep Trung admitted he had been hired by a man in Gia Lai Province to transport them to HCMC.
In Vietnam, lizards are hunted for their meat and gall bladder, which are believed to cure various ailments, and skin which is used as leather.
