Customs officers at Hai Phong Port Monday seized 22 tons of ivory smuggled in from Malaysia in a container purported to have red algae.
The container arrived aboard the Malta Rainbow May 12.
The officials said the consignment was addressed to a city company.
Earlier this month, customs officers in the northern city had seized two tons of ivory that arrived from Kenya in two containers labeled as dried seaweed and were set to be re-exported to China.
