Hospitals around Vietnam have reported that 300 people were killed and 400 others were injured in 400 road accidents on the first seven days of the Lunar New Year, according to the Traffic Police Department.
The number of accidents was 300 last year.
Failure to wear helmets was the cause of 650 cases of injury or death.
The hospitals said they admitted 44,000 people, 14,077 for emergency treatment, a year-on-year decrease of 14 percent.
The Lunar New Year fell on February 14 this year.
