Vietnam Airlines adds 2 new central destinations
VNA

Vietnam Airlines announced last week it would soon start flying from Hanoi to Vinh city and Quang Nam Province in the central region.

The carrier will resume its Vinh service May 12 after a 10-year gap using 65-seat ATR 72 aircraft. There will be five weekly flights in either direction -- on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

Its service to Chu Lai in Quang Nam will begin June 2 using 70-seat Fokker 70 aircraft. It will be on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays in either direction.

The carrier is offering promotional fares on the new routes. A one-way Hanoi-Vinh ticket costs VND300,000 (US$15.80) plus tax for travel until June 30. It costs VND400,000 to Chu Lai until June 20.

The cheap tickets will be sold until May 31.

The new services will take the total number of Vietnam Airlines’ domestic routes to 35.

The country’s largest airline is set to operate 224 extra flights between April 22 and May 4 to meet increased demand for air travel during the Hung Kings’ death anniversary, April 23, Reunification Day, April 30, and May Day holidays.

It will include 38 additional flights between Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, or 7 percent of the normal number, 36 extra flights between HCMC and Danang, and 30 extra flights on the Hanoi – Danang route.

It will use Airbus A320, A321, and 330 and Boeing 777 aircraft for the extra services.
