Nha Trang City’s first tethered gas balloon will be put into operation next month to provide travelers a thrilling 20 minute-ride over the central coastal city’s sky at the Hon Tam Resort.
The French-made balloon worth 1.2 million euros (nearly US$1.7 million) is owned by the Hon Tam Nha Trang Sea Joint Stock Company, which is also the resort’s developer.
The balloon, put into trial run last Saturday, can hold up to 30 people to a height of 150 meters, allowing the visitors to have a panoramic view of the city and the Nha Trang Bay, a member of the Most Beautiful Bays in the World Club, in 20 minutes.
The balloon ride, the first of its kind in Nha Trang, will be put into operation on February 3 this year, Vietnam News Agency reported.
Hon Tam Nha Trang Sea has sent two of its staff to France for a training course on operating the balloon.
The company has also invited French and German specialists to Vietnam for installation and technical assistance.
Located on the 110 hectare Hon Tam (Silkworm Island), seven kilometers from Nha Trang City, the Hon Tam Resort comprises 50 bungalows, a four-star hotel with 224 rooms, two swimming pools, three tennis courts, three restaurants, a golf drive range and a motorized water-sport center
It takes some ten minutes by speedboat or 25 minutes by wooden boat to reach the resort, which was broken ground in late 2007.
