Compiled by Hong Nguyen

Grammy-nominated US jazz singer and pianist Andromeda Turre will perform at the Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi Hotel from this month through August 31.

She will take the stage at 8:45pm daily from Tuesday to Sunday at the five-star hotel’s Le Club, newswire VnExpress reported.

The 29-year-old is the daughter of renowned trombonist and recording artist Steve Turre and his wife, cellist and composer Akua Dixon.

She majored in theater at the Boston Conservatory of Music and later transferred to Berklee College of Music in Massachusetts to study vocal performance.

Turre’s began her professional career as a background vocalist with late soul and R&B legend Ray Charles. She has traveled around the US and Europe to perform, including as lead vocalist for classic jazz and swing ensemble JC Hopkins Biggish Band.

She received critical acclaim in 2007 for her starring role in an off-Broadway musical based on Woody Allen vignettes, “Murder Mystery Blues," where she displayed her versatility: in one show, she acted, sang, danced, and played the piano.

In 2008 she released her debut album “Introducing Andromeda Turre” which received a Grammy nomination for Best Vocal Jazz Album the same year.
