Tuoi Tre

Tien Giang is seeking investments of VND192 trillion (US$10.4 billion) in 117 projects, authorities from the Mekong Delta province told more than 1,000 local and foreign entrepreneurs at an investment promotion conference last week.

They include 23 industrial infrastructure projects, 18 in urban development, 14 in tourism, 21 in finance and services, and six in environment.

Tran The Ngoc, chairman of the province People’s Committee, promised to reduce red tape and provide favorable conditions for businesses interested in investing in the province, Sai Gon Tiep Thi (Sai Gon Marketing) newspaper reported.

Authorities handed licenses for nine projects involving a combined investment of VND3.2 trillion ($173.3 million) and signed memorandums of understanding for 15 projects worth a total of VND11 trillion ($595.7 million).

Tien Giang is the gateway to the Vietnam’s major economic and tourism hub, Ho Chi Minh City, and its southwestern provinces.

The province has so far attracted cumulative foreign investment of $320 million.
